Buddy Beacon is the largest mobile buddy finding application? Yes, it's true. And we're adding more users everyday.
Status is what you're doing ("making dinner") plus where you are ("near Main St. in Boston MA"). With Buddy Beacon, you're in control: No one sees your status unless you click "update". If you change locations, Buddy Beacon will not automatically show it; you must update again.
You can leave the text field blank when you click "update", and your buddies will just see your location and when you last updated. If you don't update within a week, buddies see "hasn't updated in a while."
If you have the Buddy Beacon facebook application, your past status updates remain in your Facebook mini-feed. You can manually delete them there. Mobile users see your last updated status only.
To become buddies with someone, you both need to agree to share your status updates. Once you do, you show up in each other's Buddy Lists.
Click on a buddy name for more options: "Map" shows their last updated location. "Nudge" sends a text message and a Buddy Beacon alert to remind them to update their status. "Remove" takes the buddy off your list and takes you off theirs. The buddy will not get an alert if you remove them. As for real life, well, you can do whatever you want with your buddies. Just keep it legal.
